Knit in a self-patterning yarn in circular garter stitch, the shawl is made up pentagons and squares that are joined as you knit. The pentagons form the right and left hand sides; the squares fill the interior of the shawl. The pentagons naturally create a ruffled edge. Half squares are used to shape the top edge of the shawl so that it will lie nicely on the shoulders. There is a diagram showing the order and placement of the modular units. The side edges are self-finished. The top edge can be finished either with a picot cast-off or with one row of single crochet.

You can use the magic loop method or use a 16 inch circular and short double point needles.
