This scarf is a simple knit, but a fun one—and it only takes a single skein of yarn to make it! If you like knitting shawls, you’ll recognize the foundational shapes and techniques—but their unique pairing makes for an engaging lightweight scarf that combines the popular skinny triangle with a classic crescent.

Various stitch motifs add texture and visual interest, and while the scarf isn’t identical on the back, the wrong side of the fabric is still nice enough to show, making wearing and styling it very easy. There’s no completely unpresentable side to it.

Because of the crescent shape, this full-size scarf requires a surprisingly small amount of yarn. In a smooth yarn and a smoky soft colorway like the one shown, the scarf looks
almost surprisingly sophisticated, too.

Materials:

• 420 yds or ~1 skein of Hedgehog Fibres Oh So Fine; sample shown in Cinder
• 1 40”+ circular needle in US 4-5/3.5-3.75mm, or size needed for gauge
• tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• removable stitch markers—optional, but nice to have. (I used them to keep track of stitch counts.)

Gauge:
Foundation triangle gauge is 28 sts and 36 rows over 4”/10cm of garter stitch, worked flat and blocked. Crescent shawl gauge is broader, at 16 sts and 24 rows in pattern. Please be sure to check your gauge.

Measurements:
As shown, this scarf measures 70”/1.8m long and about 9.5”/24cm wide at its widest. I blocked my sample very gently, with a curve at the ends, and measured the full length including the curve itself.
