Mohair Tam O'Shanter
Materials: Two strands of 2-ply handspun mohair yarn to approximate size of one strand sport yarn (approximately 600 yards).
General Instructions: Your work will be wrong-side out, knit with two needles. Knitting proceeds from the crown of the hat to the ribbing.
Directions are for “one size fits all”. Hat size can be adjusted by changing needle size and tension, as well as using another type of yarn. For mohair, knit a gauge that will give you 6 sts per inch. For heavier weight yarn, figure 4 sts to the inch using size 10 or 11 needles. Ribbing should measure 1” less than head circumference.
