This pattern is inspired by the Ravelry pattern “Aunt Maggie’s Slippers” which was in turn inspired by an earlier pattern. I love it as it’s the closest I’ve found to the “bedsocks” that my Nana Molly used to make for us lucky family members! :)

This rewriting has been done to make it easier for beginners to read, this is a great wee knit for those newbies out there!

Yarn - 10 ply (worsted).

You’ll get super cosy slippers with double stranding - that means two strands of yarn knitted together.

For two strands you’ll need two 50g balls of yarn for each pair of kids slippers. For adults sizes you’ll be safer with two 100g balls. If you just do a single strand you’ll need half that amount.

Needles - 5.5 mm for double strand, 5 mm for single strand.

You’ll also need a tapestry needle - or any needle with a big enough eye for the yarn to pass through.

Design - if you use two strands you can use two different colours, which gives a random effect that I really like.

You can do stripes, or maybe add a different colour to the toe section. I’m a big fan of having two different coloured slippers, but that’s not to everyone’s taste!
