This matching set was written for my mom. The mitts are longer than the Most Basic of Mitts pattern so her wrists are covered and her fingers can tuck in to warm. The hat was written with a foldable brim so it can transition from a slightly slouchy hat to a warmer double brim. Both are made with a lovely triangular lace pattern for breathability. Even the samples were made in a bright happy (fluorescent safety) color to match her favorite walking jacket. Make these for someone in your life who needs a little warmth and brightness.

SIZING
Hat measures 16 inches around and 11-12 inches deep, unstretched (this fits a head roughly 20-24 inches around) . To adjust size, you can use a smaller or larger needle. You could add/decrease the number of stitches, however this would be much more complicated as it would affect the decrease counts. However in the body of the hat, added stitches could just be hidden in the seed stitch section between the pattern blocks.

Mitts measure 6 inches around at the wrist and 9 inches long, unstretched (this fits an adult medium size hand or a women’s size 7 glove). You can add or remove pattern repeats to adjust length or shorten/lengthen cuffs. To increase width around, feel free to add or remove stitches from the stockinette area (rather than the patterned area) for simplicity. You can also adjust by using a different needle size. To maintain the ribbing in pattern, add or remove stitches in multiples of 3.
