Mom's slippers
I grew up wearing slippers knitted by my mom. We wore them everywhere, so much she had to make felt soles. She continued to knit these for us and to sell until Alzheimer’s claimed her mind. Years ago I needed a new pair so I started to make them and since then I decided to continue the tradition and knit these comfy, durable and dare I say fashionable slippers!
I use pretty much any yarn, from a store or a reclaimed sweater/scarf/hat/blanket. It’s also the perfect opportunity to use leftover yarn or clean up your stash! To get the best results, you need to have at least 3 strands of yarn, more if the yarn is thin. This is where you become incredibly creative using different colours/textures. The thickness of the slipper is between 3/8-1/2”, depending on how many strands you are using.
Sizing is approximate and gauge is not important but it helps to knit tight. Always knit at least 1 inch smaller than the actual length of the foot as they will stretch. I referenced Children “C”, Women “W” and Men “M”
Since I have been knitting them for so long, the instructions needed fine tuning so the pattern was tested and read by two good friends. If errors still exists or if you have any questions get in touch. There are also no restrictions on what you do with the finished product. These are great items to fundraise.
