MONA Cardigan features traditional Aran motifs, where every stitch tells a story. It combines the honeycomb pattern—a symbol of diligence and the rewards of hard work—with the trellis pattern, representing protective stone walls and fortresses against harsh elements. In Japan, these unique combinations traditionally served a purpose similar to a Kamon (family crest), worn by fishermen as a distinct signature. Inspired by the poetic concept of “knitting a family crest,” this cardigan was named MONA. Designed with comfort in mind, this cozy cardigan is perfect for layering. It is also an ideal, approachable project for knitters looking to try cable knitting for the very first time!
