I designed this butterfly for a friend who had requested a cuddly Monarch butterfly. When I posted the finished product on “The Crochet Crowd” ‘s Facebook page, folks were eager to find the pattern. So I made another one and wrote out the pattern. This is it -- complete with a 19-page photo tutorial.

This pattern uses Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Carrot and Black, less than half a skein of each, and a small amount of your choice of white yarn. You will also need fiber fill stuffing and the usual crochet accessories (hook size H, needle, stitch markers) - details are in the pattern.

I would say this is an intermediate level project. It can be finished out however you’d like, with less embroidery, a different face…The choice is up to you!

Your finished butterfly will have a wingspan of approximately 15”, with a 7” body.
