Monday Cowl
by Kiniki Knits
This cowl is designed with knitters new to circular needles and cable knitting in mind. It is worked in the round and features a simple cable pattern repeat, with cable stitches worked only every 4th round.
Yarn
You will need about 200 m of DK (8 ply) yarn, which is worked double (that is, you hold two strands together to create a thicker ply).
Needles
- 7 mm (US 10 ¾) circular needles with a short cable (say, 50 – 60 cm).
- Cable needle (or a short double-pointed needle). Ideally, this should also be 7 mm so the stitches are not stretched or likely to slip off but you can work with a smaller needle.
Sizing
The cowl has an approximate circumference of 66 cm and length of 23 cm.
We named it after a Monday lunchtime knitting circle for beginner knitters for which we wrote the pattern. We hope it helps other beginner knitters too!
