The first thing I ever crocheted was a human-sized blanket that ended up being a great comfort to a rescue cat. I and my friend named him Monsoon because when we first got him, he was all growls and hisses and scratches. As soon as we put him on the blanket, he started to purr. It took many weeks before he would let us pet him, but whenever he went ballistic, we put him on the blanket and he would calm down immediately.

You can read the whole story of his daring rescue on my blog.

This simple pattern is a reproduction of that blanket.
