Other than knitting, my passion is reading! As a school media specialist, I love helping students find new titles to enjoy reading. As summer turned into fall, I was itching to start a new project and find a way to get the students excited about reading! So, I developed this monster tote to stuff with great Halloween stories and use as a raffle at school!

The tote bag is just the right size for tucking in a few favorite reads for the car, a trip to the library, or just toting around the house. It’s also a great way to hold some Halloween candy! Can you tell I have a sweet tooth?!

This book tote bag is knit in the round on circular needles from the top down. The construction of the bag includes garter stitch and stockinette stitch. The mouth and scar are embroidered using the double knitting technique while buttons are sewn on for the eyes. Cotton or nylon belt strap is used for the handle. Directions for an optional lining of the bag are included. Note: I used a smaller needle than recommended by the yarn to gain a tight knit fabric in order to prevent stretching of the tote when in use.
