This pattern is super quick and super easy! You can knit it up in scrap yarn (5 strands of double knitting yarn held together, or some scrap super chunky) or in a solid colour, or mix it up and change colours; it is totally up to you and I will go into more detail later!

The Monster Hat is totally seamless, apart from the little bit of darning at the top which means more knitting, less seaming YAY!
If you would like to knit up the hat without a turned up brim, please take away the number of rows you have knitted rib from the stocking stitch section!
Weaving in ends is an option, not a must.

I have included instructions for knitting this pattern in the round and flat!
Gauge Knitted in stocking stitch, in the round with 10mm needles:
10 stitches: 13cm / 5.2 inches
10 rows: 8.5cm / 3.3 inches

Materials
Size 10mm circular needles with a 12 inch cord
Please use whatever size needles needed to get correct gauge
Note: you can use the magic loop method with a longer cord
Size 10mm double pointed needles if this is your preferred method
10mm straight needles If you prefer to use straight needles
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Beginning of round stitch marker

Yarn!
Double knitting yarn
5 strands of any double knitting yarn held together
A stash of double knitting yarn
Note: The sort of yarn that recommends that you use 4mm needles
Any super bulky yarns for example:
Crazy Sexy Wool by Wool and The Gang
Rasta by Malabrigo
Feel free to come up with your very own yarn combination that gets you the correct gauge

Yarn Amounts
Because this pattern is a stash buster and different types of yarn can be heavier than others (eg. cotton is heavier than merino) it is quite tricky to get an approximate yarn amount for this pattern. I suggest having between 40 and 200 grams of yarn for this project. If you are using Wool And The Gang’s Crazy Sexy wool, you will need no more than 1 ball for all sizes!

Each size will have 5cm / 2 inches of negative ease, meaning that it will stretch around 5 cm / 2 inches!
