Monster Mesh Shawl
A light and airy crochet mesh shawl designed to make the most out of pretty color shifting cakes like Hobbii Dahlia. The entirety of the pattern is a repeat of one simple row made up of double crochets and chain spaces, making it easy to memorize and well suited for stitching in front of the TV, or while reading or traveling. This shawl is great for crocheters of all skill levels and quickly works up into a beautiful statement piece that only requires a single cake!
Method:
This shawl is worked flat in turned rows, with increases at each end and the center. The end shape is a long, curved triangle, or perhaps a pointed crescent, that sits nicely around the shoulders and neck and spirals at the ends. To ensure enough yarn is available for the picot edge, the entire cake of yarn is worked in the mesh pattern, then the last full row is frogged and reworked as the border.
Any yarn and hook may be used; materials listed will result in a shawl like those in the samples. Dahlia is a size 2, 110g/400m yarn. Blocking the finished shawl is recommended to open up the mesh and define the picot points.
There is no specific gauge. Choose a yarn and hook that creates a fabric that you enjoy. The yarn and hook suggested produce a light, open fabric.
