This is the first pattern of a new series which will become my first e-book collection of patterns. Exploring the Galaxy will include 6 patterns of scarves and shawls of various shapes, sizes and weights of yarn. The e-book, all 6 patterns, will sell for $28, though the patterns will be available separately.

Moonlight glows, it doesn’t sparkle, therefore no beads on this one. The moon’s glow is reflected light from the sun, it creates no light of its own. The magic of moonlight, or moon glow, is ageless and familiar in verse and song, romance and promise, intrigue and mystery.

I chose Silken Straw, by Alchemy (246 yds per skein) for this scarf. Delicate and mysterious in texture, the thread relaxes when it is wet, so you can shape and block your finished piece easily. The lace pattern is Catherine Wheel, a traditional pattern.

The pattern is intended to be worked fairly loose and lacy, hence the larger needles for such a fine weight yarn. The effect should be drapey and light.
