During the dark and gloomy winter months, the Moonberry Hat was born. An entwined collection of lace, bobbles and cables keep this a beautifully elegant addition to your handmade winter wardrobe, whilst keeping the knitting process interesting and addictive. There is a video tutorial included for creating the bobbles which are crocheted.

Sizes:
Toddler - Circumference: To fit head measuring 19” (48cm). Length: 8” (20.5cm)
Child – Circumference: To fit head measuring 20” (51cm). Length: 8.5” (21.5cm)
Adult (Small) – Circumference: To fit head measuring 21-22” (53-56cm). Length: 9” (23cm)
Adult (Large) – Circumference: To fit head measuring 23-24” (58-61cm). Length: 9” (23cm)

Yarn:
The hat requires one strand of fingering weight to be held together with one strand of laceweight mohair yarn throughout the project. The sample used:

  • Quince and Co Finch in the “Frost” colourway (100% wool) (221yds/202m per 50g) and
  • Lockwood Fibres Suri Silk Cloud in the “Rainy Mushroom” colourway (74% Baby Suri Alpaca, 26% Mulberry Silk) (328yds/300m per 50g)

Toddler – 89yds / 81m (approx. 20g) of fingering weight yarn AND 89yds / 81m (approx. 14g) of lace weight yarn.

Child – 123yds / 133m (approx. 28g) of fingering weight yarn AND 123yds / 113m (approx. 17g) of lace weight yarn.

Adult (Small) – 155yds / 141m (approx. 35g) of fingering weight yarn AND 155yds / 141m (approx. 24g) of lace weight yarn.

Adult (Large) – 176yds / 161m (approx. 40g) of fingering weight yarn AND 176yds / 161m (approx. 27g) of lace weight yarn.

Recommended Needle Size:
3.25mm (US Size 3) and 3.75mm (US Size 5) on 16 inch circular and 32 inch circular cables (for magic loop) or DPNs. Needle sizes are a guideline, please adjust the needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.

For the optional bobbles featured on the lace pattern you will need a 3.5mm crochet hook.
