“The Moose is loose!”

Moosie’s Baby Blanket was originally designed as a gift for a close friend’s grandson. He named the baby “Moose” en utero just so he could announce “the Moose is loose!” at the time of arrival. Now it’s my turn to make the announcement. It’s taken me quite awhile to bring this pattern to press, but here it is!

The blanket is knitted in a 10 stitch, 16 row repeat lace pattern and is constructed from the bottom up beginning on the right side of the fabric. It has deep diagonal borders top and bottom with 2-inch Moss Stitch borders on the sides. Repeats may be added or removed horizontally and/or vertically to adjust length and width. As written, the pattern uses approximately 7 skeins of Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. If you choose to make a larger blanket, be sure to adjust your yarn amount accordingly!

This pattern is written in 3 sections: Bottom Border, Blanket Body and Top Border. Complete sets of stitch-maps and standard grid-style charts are included on the pages following the written instructions.

Though the pattern is completed in a relatively simple lace, it does require some attention to detail when knitting the borders as they include instructions for both right and wrong sides.
