This summer I recently visited Moraine Lake in Banff National Park. Shortly after I purchased some yarn and decided to use the natural beauty of the lake as inspiration.

The Moraine Lake Cowl is richly textured and has added interest with the cross stitch in the center panel. I have the best results with fingering or sock yarn but you can use whatever yarn you choose as it will make the finished cowl larger or smaller than designed. However, the cross stitch portion may not be as easy to stitch over with thicker yarn.

In this example I used two different colors of sock yarn, a tonal and a variegated for contrast.
