I designed this sweater, Morbíldur, for a competition here in Iceland in the year 2013. The theme was stormy weather, which means Óveður - the name of the magazine published by Istex in 2014. Dedicated to the Icelandic sheep, its strength and perseverance, I thought about one of my favorite color and color combination in the Icelandic sheep, morflekkótt or acorn brown and white. I thought of the earth, the ground, dark autumn nights, a storm, and a lot of snow. A sheep struggling in the snow. I wanted the pattern to be striking, different and dynamic. It´s a unisex pattern but I made this sweater for my husband. The name Morbíldur, is one of many given to a ram, here in Iceland, and is based on its color. I hope you will enjoy knitting or/and wearing Morbíldur :)
