More Buttons and Bows
Do you want to knit more adventurous projects and learn some new techniques? Do you have odds and ends of yarn left over from previous projects? These patterns are designed for you to knit clothes for the Olliella Dinkum doll (35 cm). Instructions are provided for 4-ply and DK yarn.
These patterns are more challenging that the items featured in the Buttons and Bows pattern (see Ravelry knitandpearl https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/buttons-and-bows...) for a 38cm baby doll.
You will learn how to shape garments by increasing and decreasing the number of stitches you are working with. You will learn how to make buttonholes and how pick up stitches from knitted pieces so you can complete your garments. Using the links provided you will learn how to complete a garment using invisible seaming and how to make a twisted cord so you can finish off your bonnets.
In this pattern you will also be learning a bubble stitch which you can use to knit a cardigan and bonnet. You will also be able to create unique garments by decorating the stocking stitch garments with Swiss Darning. I’ve provided some motifs for you to start with, you will find more on the internet, or you could design your own.
Your little one will have fun dressing their Dinkum doll with this new wardrobe. It will help their dexterity as they learn how to fasten and unfasten buttons and tie bows. If you Swiss Darn colourful motifs and use coloured buttons your child can learn shapes and colours while they play!
