Morgenrot is what we call the pinkish red glow that often is seen spreading across the mountain tops at first light, when the first rays of light reflected pink off the snow and the rock. First only at the very top, then reaching further down the mountain. Like the pattern on this hat, which is inspired by one of the locations for my new retreat, the Knitterati Retreats Slow Stitching retreat in Switzerland on the sunny slopes of the Riederalp.

The Morgenrot hat features offset graduated mock cables, so you won’t need a cable needle, there is a special easy technique that achieves this cabled look!
