Mosaic Whimsical Birds
NEW RELEASE: To celebrate the release of the Mosaic Whimsical Birds afghan, all four of my whimsical birds patterns, including the coordinating valances linked below, are 30% off now through 10/25/26 MT! No code needed!
Do you love the look of filet crochet-style designs? This Mosaic Whimsical Birds Afghan, worked in a double overlay mosaic technique creating a duplicate design on the back, incorporates the look of open spaces, filled blocks and lacet stitches to create this fun filet crochet-style design. You can learn the stitches used to mimick these filet crochet-style designs on my YouTube Channel!
My Super Easy Envelope Border is used to complete the edges of this afghan for a finished look. The border is worked in the round in one piece from front to back and then sewn on the back.
This pattern includes both row-by-row written instructions as well as design charts for reference.
This same design is available in two additional formats:
- If you prefer interlocking filet crochet, this design is also available as the Interlocking Whimsical Birds Afghan.
- If you’d like to try filet crochet in thread, check out the Whimsical Birds Wall Hanging as well.
This design also coordinates with the following filet crochet valance patterns:
