Description
Moss mittens are simple modeled long ribbed mittens. Finnish lamb wool combined with Silk Mohair brings softness and some fluffyness in texture to warm hands nicely. These mittens are knitted with Magic Loob technique one mitten at a time from bottom up with 80cm circular needles. You can quite easily adjust the pattern to dpn:s also. Cast on technique is long tailed one. There is a hole made for thumb and it´s knitted separately after hand. Moss mittens are quite narrow and toes of hands and thumbs are tailed round with kitchener stitch bind off. Subtle cable in the middle of the palm is easy to knit with just one cable needle. When you learn to knit the chart mittens are quickly ready. You can add some decorations like pearls or spangle in the middle of the cables if you want to add some clam in your mittens. Choose your favorite colors of fingering weight wool and silk mohair combinations to knit with.

There are two sizes in this pattern, but if you want you can quite easily differ the sizes by decreasing or increasing either stitches or rounds. Note though the amount of dec or inc is suitable for the repeated cable chart on rounds and it is done symmetrically on stitches round the chart so that it continues pattern in ribbing.

You need to know basics in knitting to work this pattern, but there are constructions how to make a thump hole and to use kitchener stitches to bind off. In this pattern there are both charts and written instructions. Also some pictures to clarify things. Cable chart is simple to learn.
