Mothman is a legendary, winged, humanoid creature said to have been seen in West Virginia in the 1960s. Little is known about Mothman’s younger, brighter brother, Mothbro, but here he is. Mothbro is inspired by a fun sketch of Mothman I stumbled upon, but upon finding multiple patterns for Mothman, I decided Mothman most likely had a younger brother - hence, Mothbro.

This is a PATTERN for crochet, teaching you how to make Mothbro; it is NOT a finished product.

ABOUT THE PATTERN: Easy-to-follow pattern in PDF file format with detailed instructions on how to crochet and assemble all the parts to make this piece.

SIZE: Sample size is approximately 6” tall by 4” wide (wing span) using 1.5mm hook. To avoid discrepancies in size, follow the recommendations for yarn (any fingering weight single should be fine) and hook size.

GAUGE: 5 st = ½”, 5 rows = ½”

LANGUAGE: English using US terms

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: Intermediate, but a confident beginner should be able to successfully complete the piece using the tutorials referenced. Depending on hook size and yarn, you might need to make several single crochet adjustments around one of the knees (directions where this might be needed are included in the pattern).

NEED TO KNOW: chain, single crochet, slip stitch, increasing, decreasing, single crochet joins, and making fringe. There are also instructions and tutorial links for branching parts and 3D curving short rounds.
