Mother & Daughter was created in a special context. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, an esteemed nurse colleague in the emergency room fell ill and had to stay in intensive care unit for a few weeks. While she was there, her daughter in her twenties also had this terrible disease. Unfortunately, she passed away. Our colleague, fortunately, recovered. I knitted this shawl for her, to comfort her, and in memory of her adored daughter. The profits from the sale of the pattern of this shawl until the end of June will be given to her to help her get through this difficult ordeal.

Mother & Daughter is a crescent shawl. The first section, simple, is made of garter stitch. The second section, in lace, also easy enough to be accessible to the greatest number of knitters, recalls the flame of a candle, for a little hope.

Materials
Yarn: 2 skeins of Soyeuse by Fleur et Bonbon (80% superwash merino, 20% silk; 400 yards (366 m)/100 g each) in 2 different colors, or the same amount of fingering weight yarn. The sample was made using colorways Rhododendron (color 1, pink), and Crème au Café (color 2, light beige).
Needles: US 5 (3,75 mm).
Tapestry needle, blocking pins.

Gauge
18 sts and 40 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) on US 5 (3,75 mm) needles in garter st, approximately, after blocking.

Written instructions and chart for lace.

Mère & Fille a été créé dans un contexte spécial. En pleine pandémie de COVID-19, une estimée collègue infirmière à l’urgence est tombée malade et a dû séjourner aux soins intensifs durant quelques semaines. Pendant qu’elle y était, sa fille dans la vingtaine a été atteinte elle aussi de cette terrible maladie. Malheureusement, elle en est décédée. Notre collègue, heureusement, s’en est sortie. J’ai tricoté ce châle pour elle, pour la réconforter, et en mémoire de sa fille adorée. Les bénéfices de la vente du patron de ce châle jusqu’à la fin du mois de juin lui seront remis pour l’aider à passer à travers cette difficile épreuve.

Mère & Fille est un châle en croissant. La première section, simple, est constituée de point mousse. La deuxième section, en dentelle, assez facile également afin d’être accessible au plus grand nombre de tricoteuses, rappelle la flamme d’une chandelle, pour un peu d’espoir.

Laine: 2 écheveaux de Soyeuse par Fleur et Bonbon (80% mérinos superwash, 20% soie; 366 m (400 verges)/100 g chacun) en 2 couleurs différentes, ou la même quantité de laine « fingering » (super fine). L’échantillon a été tricoté avec les couleurs Rhododendron (couleur 1, rose), et Crème au Café (couleur 2, beige pâle).
Aiguilles: 3,75 mm (US 5).
Aiguille à tapisserie, épingles pour bloquer.

Échantillon
