Mountain Air shawl is part of my Mountains pattern collection and features a garter body which gradually gives way to a delicate lace reminiscent of the cloud cover on the top of many mountains.

This pattern contains the instructions for a two colour elongated crescent shawl which uses a garter body with eyelet lace bands and lace border. It is easy to knit and wear, knit from the top down all in one piece.

It uses two 100g skein of fingering weight yarn. Any yarn would work well for the body but I recommend solid, tonals and lightly variegated yarns to show the lace off.
Approximately one skein of 400 yards (365m) for the lace and border (B) and one skein of 350yards (320m) for the body (A).

I used Cascade Yarns Heritage Solids in the Snow colourway for the lace, using 86g = 376yards / 343m. And Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering kettle dye in the Wisp colourway for the body, using 94g = 335yards / 307m.
Please note I am a tight knitter so if you don’t do a gauge swatch then you will need more yarn than I did, hence the larger yardage requirements.

Needles and Notions – 4.00mm / US 6 x1. This should be about a 24” cord, but any length you are happy with works, stitch markers, a tapestry needle, scissors.

Gauge – One repeat of the stitch pattern blocked = 7-12 (16 stitches) measures 4”; the centre spine of this repeat measures 1” high - although this is not crucial. Please note that you may need more or less yarn if yours differs from this.

Finished blocked dimensions – Approx. = 96” long by 15.5” at widest point (244 x 40 cm)

The pattern has full written instructions, with regular stitch counts and guidance on yardage; an abbreviations key; charted instructions (pages 4-8) and written instructions (pages 9-12) and notes on blocking.

On the 1st July 2017 the price of this pattern will be £3 and the bundle with Mountain Path will be £5 (+VAT where applicable)
