Movement Headband
I designed this brioche headband to keep my ears warm while running during NYC winters. The headband is worn folded over once, which makes it adjustable in width and block wind better.
Techniques and Construction
The headband is knitted flat using two color brioche. It is seamed into a loop using an invisible two-pass grafting method. This project would make a good introduction to brioche stitch. The grafting can be a bit fiddly, and I would recommend prior experience with Kitchener stitch.
Sizing
This pattern is written for adult sizing and contains instructions on how to adjust length for different head circumferences.
Yarn
Yarn choice for this pattern is flexible. To achieve a similar result to the sample, choose a heavy fingering or sport weight for the main color (MC) and a fuzzy lace weight yarn (e.g. mohair, suri alpaca) for the contrasting color (CC).
Estimated yarn requirements:
- 30g heavy fingering or sport weight yarn
- 20g lace weight yarn
Sample 1 (blue/green):
- MC: Hue Loco Merino Sock in Sonata
- CC: Hue Loco Suri in Fern
Sample 2 (lavender/silver)
- MC: Plucky Knitter Lux Merino Light Sport in Lilac Haze
- CC: Dark Lake Fiber Arts Baby Alpaca and Yak in Natural Gray
