Do you remember as a child, playing kickball in the empty field down the street? Or in the front yard where you had to find objects to set up the diamond for the bases? Mr. Tom owned the empty field at the end of our block, and everyone around called it Mr. Tom’s Field. These socks remind of a time when kids played kickball outdoors all day and it didn’t really matter how big or small you were. Girls and boys were equal members of the teams, the more kids playing the better and the bossiest one probably got to play pitcher.

Written in three sizes, top down, this pattern with its subtle texture is easy to follow and will definitely remind you of your youth. Charts provided for each size as well as written instructions.

Difficulty: Not for a beginner sock knitter, but if you’ve knit a sock then you’re ready for this.

This pattern was tech edited by Ellen Silva. Graphic Design was done by Erica Gunn and the foot model was once again the incomparable Johanna Smith, although you can’t tell. Test knitters were Jeanne Lawrence Christina Workman and Jennie Kaderbach.
