Last year, Mrs. Claus hung elf hats on my daughters’ doorknobs with all the supplies they would need to prepare for Santa’s arrival: reindeer food, wishing stones, a cookie recipe, bells from the reindeers harnesses, and candy cane seeds. My girls loved their elf hats so much that I wrote Mrs. Claus a letter and asked her permission to share the hat patterns she uses to make elf hats. She kindly obliged.

This simple hat is great for beginners and experts alike. It is knit from the bottom up in the round. This hat is a quick, cute project for any age and any level. Are you a beginner knitter? This pattern includes detailed photo tutorials for making i-cords, 3-needle bind off, and how to make a pom pom with a pom pom maker.
