I’ve finally pieced together a rough pattern from the random pages of notes I took while winging this design. It’s not particularly methodical, and hasn’t been tested -- it’s more of a set of row-by-row instructions than an actual “pattern” per se. In any case, this is how I did it, so brave MSTie yarnies should, with some luck, patience, sweat and a modest amount of cursing, be able to recreate my success!

Here’s the yarn and hooks I used:

  • 1 skein worsted/aran weight red yarn (I used Red Heart TLC Essentials in ‘Cranberry’)
  • 1skein worsted/aran weight white yarn (Red Heart Super Saver white)
  • 1 skein worsted/aran weight black yarn (Red Heart Super Saver black)
  • 1 skein worsted/aran weight silver/grey yarn (Loops & Threads Soft & Shiny ‘Gray’)
  • 1 skein worsted/aran weight yarn in a light blue or other colour that you feel could simulate a glass dome (I used less than ½ skein of Vanna’s Choice #105, Silver Blue)
  • G hook
  • F hook

In addition to the yarn and hooks, you’ll need:

  • Sewing pins
  • Stiff interfacing
  • Stuffing
  • Hot glue or fabric glue
  • A streak of insanity
