A little bit of summer, a little bit of romance, and a whole lot of drape.

Mulberry Drift is a light and airy kimono-style cardigan designed to be the perfect extra layer when you want something beautiful without the weight of a traditional cardigan.

Mulberry Drift is worked from the top down. The upper back and sleeves are worked first. The upper sections of the two front panels are then worked directly from the foundation row of the upper back. The front and back are joined to form the body, with stitches skipped to create the sleeve openings.

Once the body is complete, an edging is added to the front opening, with the collar worked into this edging. The underarms are seamed to form the sleeves, which are then finished with a coordinating edge.

No complicated shaping or sewing of individual pieces is required.

The sample was crocheted using Beth’Ani Light Fingering Cotton, a 100% cotton yarn with 238 m / 260 yd per 50 g.

A light fingering weight yarn with a similar meterage and good drape is recommended. Always make a gauge swatch before beginning.

HOOK
3mm (no US equivalent) crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)

GAUGE
35 sts x 20 rows over pattern rep = 10cm/4in. Instructions to work a gauge swatch is included in the pattern.
