Mulberry Wrap
This is a pattern for an oversized scarf/wrap. Purl Soho’s Mulberry Merino (80% extra fine merino and 20% mulberry silk) knits into a scrumptiously soft fabric, with exceptional stitch definition and a gorgeous drape. This wrap is a study in texture, with brocade, mistake rib, lace and lots of striped garter stitch. I designed it to be multifunctional. It can be worn as a scarf during cold weather or a wrap that will add style to any outfit. It is large enough to allow you to wrap yourself in luxurious softness and warmth while watching TV, sitting through drafty meetings and conferences, going to a concert or the movies, or traveling on an airplane.
This is more than a pattern. It’s a concept and you, as the knitter, have complete control over the finished product. You can knit it in two colors, which will provide for more symmetry to wear as a wrap, or three colors as I designed it or you can lengthen or shorten any section. It’s up to you!
An important note on yarn weight: Purl Soho labels this yarn as Sport weight but I think it knits up more as DK weight. If you choose not to use Mulberry Merino, it will be more important for you to do a swatch in order to ensure your wrap will be the size you want it when it is complete.
Yarn used: 3 skeins of Mulberry Merino Field Mouse
1 skein each of Mulberry Merino Ballet Pink and Super Pink
Needles used: US 6 circular needles. I recommend a total length of 22-24 inches. US 8 needle used for bind off.
Blocked gauge: Garter stitch: 21 st x 35 row = 4 inches
Stockinette: 21 st x 33 row = 4 inches
Please note: I am a breast cancer survivor. Last month, I celebrated my 20 year survivor anniversary. In light of this, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be donated to nonprofit breast cancer organizations.
