This beanie pattern is inspired from my first trip to France in 2003. The name of this pattern comes from the town where I did my family stay during that trip. I found myself impressed with the architecture during my trip. I found myself mesmerized with how they could take something seemingly simple–inherently minimalistic even–and they would add a little element to jazz it up making it look simple but complex all at the same time.

This beanie is exactly that: simple but complex. I quickly found myself in a rhythm while knitting this beanie and completed it in just under a day with only one skein of yarn…and that included conception of the beanie and the math. So it’s definitely a quick knit in my book.

For me, this beanie was meditative. Just repetitive enough for my to find a rhythm but not repetitive enough that I could do it in my sleep.
This beanie is perfect for a beginner looking to learn a new skill while also being perfect for the intermediate knitter looking for a new meditative pattern.
