Murphy Shawl
The Murphy Shawl is a cozy, oversized wrap pattern that is a great knit project for an adventurous beginner or someone looking for a repetitive and relaxing project.
Size is completely customizable! Before starting, you will want to determine the wearer’s wingspan by measuring fingertips to fingertips across the back with arms outstretched. Sample was made to fit a 64” wingspan.
You’ll need a size US 8 (5mm) needle with 47”- 60” cord, and a second of similar size for Kitchener stitch. Gauge is not important for this project. You’ll also need a locking stitch marker, a tapestry needle, and scissors.
Sample was made with HiKoo Alpaca Ligera (100% Baby Alpaca, 120 yards per 50 gram ball). Sample uses 10 balls total (5 balls in color#770 - Fog and 5 balls in color#775 - Pebble) This pattern includes instructions for a color-blocked version but can easily be completed using only one color. Please note, depending on your wingspan measurements, you may need less or more yardage.
