Musically Inclined

This is perfect for pianists and musicians. It features proportionate piano keys along with quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes.

Available in two sizes, child (up to 21”), and adult (up to 24”). For the child size a size 2 needle is required (32st = 4”); adult size will need a size 3 (28st = 4”). Shown in child size on 21” head.

Required:
Size US 2 (child) or US 3 (adult) 16” circulars or double pointed needles
Optional 32” circulars for magic loop
Stitch marker
Needle
Scissors
Pompom maker (optional)

The pattern is charted with written construction details. Both the notes and keys charts are interchangeable, so knitters can use one or both.

The body can be adjusted - it can be made longer, or one of the charts can be eliminated for a snug beanie (directions for the snug beanie aren’t included in the pattern).

Skills recommended:
Knit
Purl
K2tog
Stranded knitting with two colors
Making a pompom
An understanding of magic loop or double pointed needles
An understanding of basic hat construction would be helpful

A huge thank you to Kristin Henson for the cowl idea and testing!
