I designed My 7 X‘s as a master sock base pattern. The formulas I used for the architecture and proportions are based on number 7: it starts with 7 stitches, increases in 7 places and all the calculations relate to 7.
It is unusual, but I believe it provides extra comfort without disturbing stitch patterns. It also makes placing decorative panels easy, as seen in my Cranes in skeins and Princess‘ Braid patterns. It works great with overall stitch patterns as well, as seen in my Maple Blossom socks.
I have used this sock base for children, my friends and me. It works really well in any size — toddler to adult man. I hope you’ll find this new approach worth it too!
