My Everyday Tote
My Everyday Tote is a simple and slouchy tote knit in American moss stitch.
Introduction to the pattern
My Everyday Tote is knit bottom up in one piece. After knitting the bottom, stitches are picked up along the edges to form the sides. Finally, the sides are cast off and the straps are knit and joint using a three needle cast off.
Measurements
Measurements for gauge a:
Height: 35 cm 13.5 inches.
Width: 35 cm 13.5 inches.
Strap length: 60 cm 23.5 inches.
Strap width: 4 cm 1.5 inches.
Measurements for gauge b:
Height: 35 cm 13.5 inches.
Width: 40 cm 15.5 inches.
Strap length: 60 cm 23.5 inches.
Strap width: 4.5 cm 1.7 inches.
Measured flat.
Since this is a slouchy tote, it will grow a bit in use and expand when used.
Gauge
You can knit the tote with two different gauges, which gives the tote two different measurements.
a) 18 stitches x 26 rows in American moss stitch on 4.5 US 7 needles = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches, washed.
b) 16 stitches x 26 rows in American moss stitch on 4.5 US 7 needles = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches, washed.
Recommended needle size
Needles Circular needle 4.5 mm US 7, 80 or 100 cm.
Needle 4 or 4.5 mm US 6 or 7 for the bind off.
Materials
Gauge a) 400 g Merino 120 by Lang Yarns (50 g = 120 m 131 yards), knit double stranded.
Gauge b) 350 g Amira by Lang Yarns (50 g = 100 m 109 yards), knit double stranded.
Scrap yarn for provisional cast on.
The green tote is knit in Amira 0092 by Lang Yarns.
