Finding your favorite Sock recipe is like finding your favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. It’s an excellent base to add your own pattern to, or show off the pattern of special sock yarns.

Though there are lots of basic sock patterns available these days, I’ve been perfecting my favorite socks for awhile and finally feel it’s ready to share with all of you sock knitters, new and experienced alike!

This is my standard sock yarn (fingering weight) recipe! (I have DK and Worsted sock patterns also available in my store)

~Tips included for adding contrast colors to cuff, heel, and/or toe~

CONSTRUCTION

• top (cuff) down - easy to try on as you go
• square heel flap - best fit, I’ve found
• gusseted heel - a bit of extra room around the widest part of the foot
• rounded wedge toe - my all-around favorite

TECHNIQUE
MagicLoop is my favorite for sock knitting. I’ve include my tried-and-true tips for seamless joins and organizing stitches.
Easily adapted to DPN or short circulars, if you prefer.

YARN
60-100g / 262-437yds (240-400m)
1 x 100g skein (ball) of fingering weight sock yarn will yield a pair of socks with leftovers.

NEEDLES & GAUGE
Fit is best with a gauge of 8-8.5 sts per inch, row gauge is not as specific as the lengths can be customized as you go.

Recommended needle US 1 (2.25mm) size up or down as needed.

SIZES
3 sizes (stitch counts) included. Fits foot circumference from 6.25 inches through 8 inches.
Use as a ‘recipe’ and make sport weight socks with a smaller size and larger needle - stitch counts are multiples of 8, so it’s easy to add in your favorite stitch pattern to make a custom pair

Pattern is written for new sock knitters and experienced knitters alike.
