Inspired by my trip to the highlands in the fall of 2015, I had this strange feeling that I had returned home. There is something ancient in those hills that calls to you and I have no doubt that when I left I had left a piece of my heart there. And I know it is still waiting for me to return.

Highland Knit Kits to make both color versions of this shawl are only available as a pre-order on the Pandia’s Jewels website until July 16, 2017.

This large semi-crescent wrap can be worn in a variety of ways and is perfect any time of year.

Yarn: Pandia’s Jewels Aran Tweed (85% SW Merino/ 15% NEP; 183 yds/100 g): you will need 5 skeins in different colors.

Individual yardage used for each color in sample shawl:

  • Color A- 160 yds
  • Color B- 171 yds
  • Color C- 158 yds
  • Color D- 165 yds
  • Color E- 158 yds

Needle: US Size 7 (4.5 mm) 40” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: Cable Needle, Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle.

Gauge: 8 stitches and 11 rows = 2 inch in stockinette Stitch

Finished Measurements (after blocking): wingspan is 78’ and center spine is 30.5”

Pattern is for intermediate to experienced knitters. Must be familiar with the following stitches: cables, YO, increase stitches on both right and wrong sides, decrease stitches on both right and wrong sides, and slipping stitches,
