This was designed as part of The Fiber Factor’s challenge to “Knit your life.” I’ve chosen colorwork, my favorite technique; a bag, which a knitter always needs; and a kaleidoscope of color to represent my husband and 5 kids.

Gauge isn’t terribly important since it’s a bag. You cast on 180 sts and because the various pattern repeats are varied in size, you can’t really change the cast on number.

There are two charts for the fair isle. One is colored to match what I made and one is grey and white so that you can color it differently if you choose!

When pressed flat, it’s 17 inches across the top and 15 inches from top to bottom. But some of that is actually side and bottom so it’s more like 15 inches wide, 4 inches deep, and 13 1/2 inches tall. That’s after I ran it through my washer twice. Mine isn’t completely felted - you can still see all the stitches so if you felt it more, it’ll obviously be smaller than that.
