The pattern includes directions for both the picot edged and folded brim hats. The folded brim hat is knit flat from the brim up and then seamed.

The picot edged hat provides a bit more challenge - it is knit from a figure 8 cast on up, and then from the cast on edge down to the picot cast off and seamed afterwards.

The stitch pattern is thicker then stockinette fabric knit from the same yarn would be - which makes it great for hats, scarves, and other warm layers. A solid or tweedy yarn shows the stitch patten well and makes a wonderful mens’ hat. But the stitch pattern is simple enough that it shows off a variegated yarn beautifully.

I designed these hats to be part of matching sets with the so-called scarves I knit.
