A gorgeous chunky crochet blanket, the Mystic Ripple Blanket works up quickly and easily using a repetitive, meditative pattern. This blanket is suitable for beginners as the chevron/ripple pattern is created using simple increases and decreases. There are no complicated stitches, just half-double and double crochets!

Materials:
12 mm crochet hook
Between 400-1250 yards of Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn (or other #6 super bulky yarn), depending on the size you choose to make
Tapestry needle
Scissors

The free pattern is available on the YSC blog in the “lapghan” size (40 x 52 inches), but two additional sizes (baby - 36 x 36; throw - 48 x 60 inches) are available in the paid pattern, as well as diagrams to help visualize the row patterns.

I used a 12 mm hook and Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn (#6 super bulky) in “Mystical.” My testers (Becky, Bev, Cindy, Deb, Heather, and Megan) used used hooks between 10-12 mm, depending on their tension. Three used T&Q yarn, but one used Buttercream Luxe Craft Alpaca yarn and another used Premiere Couture Home yarn.
