Mythical Creatures Knit
Join us on this journey through the world of Mythical Creatures.
THIS IS THE KNIT VERSION, if you get both the knit and the crochet version, one will be 50% off.
The Mythical Creatures Blanket was first designed especially for The Discrete Unicorn Blanket Club 2025.
Do a deep dive into your stash and use all the pretty single skeins.
The Mythical Creatures Blanket is designed for 2x12x50 gram skeins, one Motif colour and one Background colour for each section. The border will then be made using the leftover yarn from making the complete blanket.
Yarn, gauge and knitting needles
The pattern is written for DK yarn. ULTRA DK 100% superwash merino 100g / 225m DK Proper SOCK 80% superwash merino 20% Nylon 100g / 225m
The sample is made using 5,0 mm knitting needles and the Ultra DK mentioned above.
The gauge is approx 20 sts x 36 rows in pattern = 10 x 10 cm (for the yarn above).
Measurement finished blanket: approx 107 cm wide x 150 cm high without border, before blocking.
Feel free to use any yarn suitable for a blanket. The yardage needed will depend on the weight / type of the yarn used. Thinner yarn and smaller knitting needles will make a smaller and lighter blanket. The two colour sample is made using Navia DUO (100 g / 360 m).
The pattern includes several options, for you to customise the making of the Mythical Creatures Blanket.
Use any yarn suitable for a blanket. Remember that the choice of yarn affects the size of the finished blanket.
Use different colours for each section and join as you go.
Use two colours and either join as you go, or knit it all in one piece.
See picture for yardage, used and estimated, for the different weights of yarn.
Finish the blanket with one of the 2 included border options, or you can make any border of your choice.
