“Nachtwächter” was named after the beautiful teal main color hand-dyed by the talented Skudderia. It is a sweater, but inspired by a poncho, with its extra long Raglan lines and lots of ease. The back features a mock button band with three buttons in CC, just added for decoration.

For knitters who prefer using thicker yarn, I have added a version with 24 sts on 10cm, described in the same PDF. Instructions/ stitch counts for this version are written in blue color throughout the pattern so that they can be located easily.

Yarn & gauge
Needles: Main needle size is 3,0 3,5 mm.
2,25mm and 2,5mm 3,0mm and 3,25mm needles are used for edges
Gauge: 28 sts x 38 rows 24 sts x 33 rows in Stockinette (a stripe of 10 8 rows has a height of approx. 2,5 cm).

Approx. 1100/ 1200/ 1320/ 1440 1000/ 1100/ 1200/ 1300 m of a (Light) Fingering weight yarn Sport weight for thicker version needed, distributed between 920/ 1000/ 1100/ 1200 840/ 920/ 100/ 1080 m main color (MC) and 180/ 200/ 220/ 240 160/ 180/ 200/ 220 m contrast color (CC).

To complement the oversized, slightly boxy shape of the sweater, it is recommended to use a yarn with a lot of drape, i.e. containing Alpaca, silk or linen. For my main sample with 28 sts on 10cm, I have used Skudderia Egypt which is a blend of all those three (50% Alpaca, 25% silk, 25% linen, 400m/ 100g), in the (discontinued) colors “Nachtwächter” and “Iceman”.

For the thick sample, I have used a combination of Ruppert Big Camellana (100% Camel, 175m/ 50g) and Rowan Felted Tweed (50% Merino, 25% Alpaca, 25% Rayon, 175m/ 50 g).

3 flat buttons, preferably in CC, are needed for the back.
