The Naia summer set for juniors is knitted from the top down. The top is initially knitted with neckline
shaping to improve the fit around the neck, whilst raglan increases are worked. Once the raglan increases
are complete, the work is divided and the body and sleeves are knitted separately. The shorts are also
knitted from the top down with shaping at the back. You can choose to knit the ribbed hem with an opening
on the inside so that you can adjust the ribbing whilst wearing the garment, or you can knit it in the
traditional, simple way without an opening for the ribbing. The shorts are knitted with increases at the
crotch gusset and are then divided into legs, which are knitted separately.
Tips for choosing your size – The top is designed to have a positive ease of approx. 5–7 cm, whilst the shorts
have a more fitted cut with 0–2 cm of ease. As the garments are knitted in a cotton-blend yarn, we expect
them to stretch slightly with wear. Measure the circumference around the chest (for the top) and the
circumference across the hips, just above the bottom (for the shorts), and choose the size according to the
corresponding chest measurement in the pattern. If you choose a size other than the one recommended
for the child’s age, you can adjust the length to suit the child’s age instead.
