Nanas 70s Set
This hat and cowl are a tribute to the toques and scarves my Nana used to knit for me, as a child. They were a wild mix of patterns and colours, made of scraps of thrift store yarn that were older than me and smelled faintly of Goodwill. This listing includes a PDF of the pattern for both the toque and cowl. The hat will fit the average adult, and the cowl measures 23” around and 13” deep.
MATERIALS NEEDED:
101 yards (cowl) and 85 yards (hat) worsted weight yarn in chocolate brown
45 yards (cowl) and 20 yards (hat) worsted weight yarn in gold
31 yards (cowl) and 20 yards (hat) worsted weight yarn in red
31 yards (cowl) and XX yards (hat) worsted weight yarn in aran
5.0mm (US 8) 16” circular knitting needles
4.0mm (US 6) 16” circular knitting needles
5.0mm (US 8) DPNs (optional)
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Pom pom or pom pom maker (optional)
SKILLS NEEDED:
- knit, purl, knit 2 together
- working in the round
- stranded colourwork
- following written patterns & following colourwork charts
SIZE:
Hat: Laying flat, 9” (23cm) across and 9 ” (23cm) tall.
Cowl: Laying flat, 11.5” (29cm) across (circumference of 23” / 58 cm) and 13 ” (33cm) tall.
Instructions are provided on increasing/decreasing the size of the cowl.
