This scarf is knitted using the Illusion or Shadow knitting technique.

For the sample in the picture, I used a variegated red fingering weight wool and for contrast, a black fingering wool.

I was going for the look of the red knitted scarf worn in A Handmaid’s Tale ( as seen on HBO) with an embedded message for our time.
