The Naturaleza Tote was inspired by the Purl Soho’s Fold-Up Market Tote. It’s such a lovely tote, but is made by sewing fabric. And sewing is great, but it’s not knitting! I wanted a tote you could carry with you anywhere so you can avoid the use of plastic bags, weather in the market or when shopping clothes, accesories, etc.

Notes:

The Naturaleza is worked in one single piece. You’ll need to work even in St st for some inches for the front panel, decrease and increase with a Seed st selvage for the handle, and then work even again for the back panel. Finally, you’ll sew the sides, and then the bottom of the tote.

Materials:

The Naturaleza takes aproximately 548yds/500m of fine weight cotton yarn.

Semenovskaya Pryazha, Softness (47% cotton, 53% viscose; 437yds/400m per 3.5oz/100g); 2 balls.

Sample uses color Pink/30079.

US size 3 3.25 mm needles or size to obtain correct gauge.

Tapestry needle.
