This hooded scarf begins at the tip of one end, where increases are worked to form a tapered V-shape. A straight section of colourwork follows, leading into further increases that add depth for the hood. The crown is shaped with decreases, and the remaining stitches are placed on hold. A second, mirror-image piece is worked with an alternate colourwork design, and the two halves are joined.

CHOOSING SUBSTITUTE YARNS
When double knitting, you usually go up a needle size, so if you choose to substitute alternative yarns, be sure to select a yarn or combination of yarns that would typically be knit on 5mm needles in stockinette stitch, not 6mm. It is recommended to use a combination of DK and laceweight yarns, rather than one single strand of thicker yarn.
