“It is a well known fact that every great Neckwearmancer needs a great piece of Neckwear”
- quote from the unknown Lost Mage of some sort of magical wizardry saga.

Neckwearmancers unite! Here’s the shawl to show off your great skills at both crafting Neckwear and wearing it!

This shawl uses simple texture stitches, short rows, and mini skeins to really show your House Pride!

Inspired by my favorite Magical school, this piece is all about #HPRepresent! Pick the four great house colors (Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue) and make sure your House is represented!

“How do I do that?” you might ask. Well look no further! Pick your House color as CC4 and then following the established color sequence, make those house colors shine as you give 5 points to your house!

Use the hashtag: #5pointsfor____ (insert house name here!) on Instagram, post in the Battle for the Castle thread in the Ravelry group (HERE!), and help your House take the Castle (tag: #BattlefortheCastleKAL)! 5 points for each IG and Ravelry entry! (One per knitter!)

KAL runs from October 13th 2017 to January 11th 2018!

Current Standings: (Updated: Friday the 13th, October 2017)

  • Gryffindor: 0
  • Hufflepuff: 0
  • Slytherin: 0
  • Ravenclaw: 10

Size: 70 in/ 178 cm along the top edge; 22 in/ 56 cm along the widest point of the shawl. Shawl size may vary, depending on individual knitter’s gauge, yarns used, and blocking preferences.

Recommended yarn: Fingering weight yarn in a solid/tonal/speckle for MC and mini skeins of fingering weight (or scraps!) for CC1-CC4!

Sample used:

Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (100% Merino; 420 yd/384 m) in “Antique Moonstone” (MC)

In The Deep Hue Sea Caribbean Sock (75% Merino/25% Nylon; 463 yd/423 m) in the StevenBe Exclusive “HP House Colors Set” for CC1-CC4. (Using Red (CC1), Yellow (CC2), Green (CC3), and Blue (CC4) in sample)

Please see note about color selection prior to selecting CC1-CC4 for yardage!

Color Selection:

When you are selecting your house color order, follow this pattern:

Red/Gryffindor, Yellow/Hufflepuff, Green/Slytherin, and Blue/Ravenclaw.

This keeps the colors in a nice, color flow and makes sure you don’t end up with an unfortunate combo! (Like an accidental holiday color scheme!)

BUT! Make sure that the last color (CC4) is YOUR house color!

For example: I’m a Ravenclaw, so I ended with the blue to represent my house color, but if you were a member of House Hufflepuff, you would have CC1 – Green, CC2 – Blue, CC3 – Red, and CC4 – Yellow. This keeps the color sequence in order AND puts your house color front and center (or rather side!)!

Just shuffle the colors to get YOUR HOUSE (#housepride) colors flying!
