I’m so excited to have you join me for the seventh year of our blanket Crochet-A-Long. This year’s project features blackwork-inspired embroidery on Tunisian crochet fabric — like always, I wanted to experiment with something new that I’ve not done before!

I’ve also made a small change this year based on requests I have received in my previous CALs. Many people have asked for yarn details early so they can take advantage of Black Friday sales, so I’m sharing this information now as part of the pre-sale. This way, you can stock up on yarn, hooks, and any other supplies you might need.

The full blanket reveal will be on December 16th, along with more details about the CAL and the complete schedule. I can’t wait to share everything with you!

This pattern includes all 50 panels along with their embroidery guides. Since I can only offer one version of the pattern on Ravelry, I wanted to let you know that if you’d prefer to purchase just the charts (without the embroidery guides) for $24.99, you can find more details on my website.

EMBROIDERY GUIDES
When I was making my blanket, the embroidery was the part I found the most challenging. I hadn’t done much embroidery before starting this project, and it took me some time to understand the stitches and how they work with Tunisian crochet. Because of that, I created what I call “Embroidery Guides.” These are step-by-step charted instructions that walk you through how to embroider each design.

Some of the blackwork patterns in the blanket are quite detailed, and having a clear plan for how to approach the embroidery makes a huge difference. If you’re already comfortable with embroidery, you may not need these guides. But if you’re newer to it—or simply want the extra support—I recommend using them.

COURSE
As in previous years, I’ve put together a course - A beginner’s guide to Blackwork Embroidery on Tunisian Crochet - to go along with this CAL. It guides you through the technique in small, manageable lessons so you can learn at a comfortable pace. I’ve included simple assignments along the way to help you track your progress and see how your skills grow as you move through the modules.

The course isn’t required to join the CAL, but it’s a helpful place to start if you’d like some extra practice before we begin.
